Robots coming to a farm near you

With a crackdown on cheap immigrant labor, farmers are increasingly eyeing robots to pick fruit, vegetables and the like. We've talked about this subject before, but the Associated Press profiled it last week. iRobot Corp. has occasionally talked about robotic farming but has not focused on it so far, and I don't see it getting involved for the next few years as they have more immediate fish to fry. But this is clearly an area worth watching. The larger point is that as the labor market increasingly ages with the retirement of the baby boom, there will be a growing market for robots -- or immigrants -- in lots of industries.
