I'm not a lawyer, so I can't assess the case against Robotic FX legally, but the lawsuit certainly is not without it's juicy details. For starters, there's this picture to the right, which an iRobot private investigator says included the dumping of iRobot material into a Dumpster. It's one thing to see it on paper, it's another to see it as an actual photo.
Here is the Downloadable PDF of iRobot's Massachusetts lawsuit and exhibits. This file includes the signed confidentiality agreements with Jameel Ahed (one co-signed by Helen Greiner and one by Colin Angle). It also includes the Feb. 2007 cease and desist letter from iRobot to Jameel Ahed alleging that the Negotiator violates iRobot patents and iRobot's belief that he is violating the confidentiality agreement. It states that iRobot was not aware of the Negotiator before 2006, and alleges that Jameel Ahed concealed the likeness of the Negotiator for a period of time. Also, Jameel Ahed's employment with iRobot ended in 2002, so he's been building up his company for five years, not six. Finally, iRobot alleges that Jameel Ahed logged in to his iRobot account after he had already left the company and emailed to his new Robotic FX email account documents. A lot to digest here, but the confidentiality agreements are somewhat reassuring if a court is willing to enforce them. (How do you build a PackBot look-a-like in five years on a shoestring without using iRobot "know-how"?)
(another box), Here is the affidavit from iRobot's private investigator who describes his Dumpster diving and more. Here is Exhibit A (Dumpster Pics), Exhibit B (Pic of box labeled iRobot, etc.), Exhibit CExhibit D (IS Robotics SWARM videotape from 2000 - IS Robotics is the previous name of iRobot Corporation), Exhibit E (Pic of a box from a brand new shredder!), Exhibit F (another Dumpster pic).
Here is the temporary restraining order from the Alabama Judge. Here is the Alabama Lawsuit.
